there on the web for no other reason than sharing. It's about stuff
that seemed interesting at the time. Enjoy.

poetry and books and history and technology and lots more besides.
Every day I am excited by the marvelous things I see in this wonderful
world and beyond. I love the Internet for giving me access to so much.
I am like a sponge for wondrous things or things that make me wonder. This site is really just a

Educational Podcasting: Revolution In The Way Universities Teach

Its official! Educational podcasting has become a runaway success. In recent years some of the most prestigious universities in the US have embraced podcasting as a new way to reach students. First it was just lecture notes, but now it is full lectures recorded in real classes and to many peoples surprises, the most popular lectures have larger subscription bases than many famous television shows.

Educational podcasting was often referred to as iPod U, but in May of 2007, Apple added these podcasts onto iTunes and gave them a dedicted area on the iTunes Store called iTunes U. Since that time educational podcasts have seen their audience quadruple. Statements about this being a revolution in educational delivery are now looking credible.

There are many advantages to the educational podcast. Obviously it makes lectures from far away universities available to anybody anywhere. But even those who can attend the lectures in person can benefit. With a podcast the listener can replay a passage as many times as necessary as the student tries to understand what is being said. It is also easy to pause the podcast while notes are taken, or further research into a point made is possible while the lecture is paused. Then there is the fact that it is easy to forget the exact content of a lecture once it is over. Using the iPod, it is easy to hear the podcast version to refresh the memory later.
